In Hybrid Basketry, digital manufacturing technology fuses with traditional weaving craft: 3D-printed structures are shaped and manufactured to facilitate the development of hand-woven products.

Amit Zoran is a senior lecturer at the School of Engineering and Computer Science at HUJI. In his work, Amit explores the two divergent realms of emerging computational technologies and traditional hand-hewn skills. He wishes to develop a new way of thinking about these polarities: the digital machine, as generator of control and efficacy, and the human hand, as preserver of subjective intentions and expressivity. Amit holds a PhD and a MS from the MIT Media Lab, a MDes in design from Bezalel, and a BSc in Communication Engineering from BGU. Amit previously worked six years in the high-tech industry.
